A personal campaign by Barry Hasan Durmaz — Paradise, Pennsylvania
Two years ago I was diagnosed with lymphoma. Around the same time I learned I had lost nearly half the nerve function in both legs. I’m also prediabetic, my blood oxygen is at half capacity, and my biological age tests at nearly 84 — though I am 61.
I did everything the VA asked. When I requested a continuous glucose monitor — a tool that could help me prevent insulin dependency — they said no. Not yet sick enough. They would rather wait until I qualify for the more expensive intervention than fund the one that might prevent it.
That was the moment I stopped waiting.
What I’m doing about it
I am pursuing healing the way I believe God designed the body to heal — through real food, sound nutrition, and drug-free care. I am under the counsel of Dr. Clair Zimmerman of Advanced Research Wellness Center in Lititz, Pennsylvania. I am enrolled in the Naturopathic Track at Trinity School of Natural Health. I am completing formal training in functional blood chemistry and digestive health.
I am also launching Sans Peur — Food Without Fear: a private food buyers club in Lancaster County, built on the conviction that food is medicine and that a man who governs himself under God does not outsource that responsibility to institutions that have failed him.
