Hello, my name is Josiah.

When I was five, my father who owned a building and property maintenance company at that time brought me along to his current job site. He was cleaning out the lint in the air duct vent behind an all-in-one  washer and dryer tower. When it came time to replugging the unit, my father discovered that because the cord was only so long he had to position the tower close enough in the recess for the cord to reach. Unfortunately the gap left over was so small that it was impossible for my father to reach behind and replug the cord. But I was small and was able to squeeze through the gap. I was able to replug it and was was later rewarded with a KFC meal.

I became the fix it and IT person of the household, putting together bookcases or cabinets or wiring ethernet cables throughout the house or changing the oil filter on our vehicles or replacing the cracked iPhone screens, and laptop batteries.

As a young boy I was fascinated by old coins and shiny silver at the the coin shops my father went to. He used to purchase us an ounce of silver for every year of our lives on our birthday before our mission trip to Japan. Times were leaner after Japan, but when he could he gave us an ounce on our birthday.

But what really kicked me into the hobby of kings was an advertisement for the walking liberty half dollars. I never knew that such a coin existed. That mailer completed in me the love for numismatics and bullion which now leads me to purchase silver and gold as a hedge against inflation. True currency is that which has intrinsic value, not funny money, those green slips of paper we tuck away in our wallets.

Our father educated us on the value of things that are true and just; of things good and noble. To know this we must turn our eyes to the past and see where we came from and the collective stories that has brought us to where we are today. This love of history and knowledge gives me the impetus to read and read and read. That gives rise to writing and the study of biblical principles; of law and of government.

I love stories, reading and writing them.  Stories embody truth in a way that lectures cannot. It reaches our innermost being for we were made to love a good story. This leads us to the ultimate Story. It’s no wonder that Jesus used stories to illustrate the Kingdom of God.
