A Publishing Government for a Self-Governing People
American Virtue exists to recover ground that family government, church government, and local self-government have surrendered to fear, to bureaucracy, to false gospels, and to the all-powerful state.
Freedom begins with self-government under God — exercised in the family, promoted in the church, and defended by the civil state.
We report hard truth because soft hearts are made by it. We document rather than assert. And we are building, county by county, the kind of free press a free people requires.

Exercises
The household is the first government — where self-government is learned, practiced, and passed to the next generation. Strong households are the foundation of a free nation.
Promotes
The church proclaims the King whose rule makes men free. It recovers biblical authority and revives the faithful discipleship from which liberty has always sprung.
Defends
The civil state has one lawful charge: to defend the self-government of free men under fundamental law — never to replace it. Just governance restores what the all-powerful state destroys.

Awake, O Slumbering Lancaster
The first issue of American Virtue opens where every awakening must — with a people roused from sleep. We begin in 1740, when George Whitefield preached a great awakening that stirred a nation toward the liberty it would soon declare.
The spiritual awakening was the precondition of the political one. So is ours. American Virtue is built to equip households to govern themselves under the King whose Spirit makes men free.
